She is known primarily as a poet, but she also wrote novels, memoirs, and essays and did a number of translations from the Greek. This book looks extremely beautiful but I just wish it had more poems than lyrics. I felt the poems were such a small part of the book and were the most interesting (at least something new). I guess I didn’t care that much about the lyrics because I already have all her albums. Hopefully Florence will write a poems book soon/5().
Two long, extremely prosy poems and a sprinkling of undistinguished lyrics. The title poem is a sort of diary/paean to Hesse's garden, and it's very pleasant. The ""silly flower faces, touching,/ Droll, innocent and greedy and the same time"" turn at season's end ""Wondrously ripe, transcendent, an admonishing model.""
